Gate Opener Installation in Los Angeles, CA
An opener that handles your gate's weight and daily cycle load.
We weigh the gate before we specify anything. Wiring run, mounting, and limit-switch programming are included in every installation, completed on a single visit.

Which Gate Type Are You Starting With?
Your gate's material and weight determine everything about opener selection.
Before you read another word, find your gate below. It shapes every decision that follows.
Light Aluminum or Hollow Steel
Single-panel drive gates. Standard residential-class operators work well here.
Residential classMid-weight Steel or Composite
Single or bi-parting gates. Requires a mid-duty or commercial-grade operator.
Mid-duty classHeavy Ornamental Iron
The most common category in older Los Angeles neighborhoods. These need a heavy-duty operator with a high daily cycle rating matched to actual gate weight.

Knowing What You're Actually Automating
In Los Angeles, ornamental iron gates are everywhere, and they are almost never lightweight.
The gate stock in neighborhoods like Hancock Park, Windsor Hills, and View Park tends to be ornamental iron installed decades ago. Those gates are beautiful. They're also dense.
A gate that looks like a standard residential swing gate can weigh 600 pounds. An opener rated for 300 pounds running a 600-pound gate operates at maximum load every single cycle, and that leads to early motor failure, sometimes inside the first year.
Iron Men's dispatch sits on Wilshire Boulevard, and our crews move along the I-405 corridor regularly, from Brentwood down through Inglewood. Los Angeles gate opener installation requires knowing what's actually in front of you, not what the spec sheet assumes.

How We Matched One Brentwood Gate to the Right Motor
Every gate opener installation in Los Angeles starts with a physical measurement, not a catalog guess.
A homeowner called us after a previous opener failed inside eight months. It was a residential-grade unit. The gate it was driving was a double swing ornamental iron gate, twelve feet wide, with decorative scrollwork throughout. We put it on the scale.
The difference wasn't brand loyalty. It was load math.
We looked at the gate width, the hinge placement, and the daily cycle rating the homeowner actually expected. We ran the wiring run through the property's existing conduit path to keep the install clean, mounted the arm, configured the limit switch calibration, and ran the full cycle test before we left the property.
Gate operator selection matters more than any product brochure. Matching a motor to your gate's actual weight, width, material, and daily cycle count is the whole job.Yaron Eliya · Owner, Iron Men Gates and Doors Design
Three Things in Every Installation
Wiring run, mounting, and limit-switch programming. Not add-ons.
Wiring Run
Weatherproof conduit carrying power and signal from panel to operator. No exposed wire stapled to wood posts.
Mounting
Bracket configuration engineered to your gate's swing arc or slide travel. A loose mount vibrates, loosens further, and eventually fails at the arm connection.
Limit Programming
Calibration that tells the opener exactly where to stop, open and closed.
Already bought an opener? We handle that too. If it's rated for your gate, we install it. If it's not, we tell you clearly before we mount anything and explain what class of operator actually fits. You decide from there. We don't install equipment we know is underspecified.
If you haven't purchased an operator yet, that's the easier path. We measure first, spec second, and source accordingly. Either way, you know what you're getting before a single bolt turns.
Seven Things We Do on Every Gate Opener Installation
UL 325 compliance on every job, without exception
UL 325 is the Underwriters Laboratories safety standard covering entrapment protection, force limits, and sensor requirements for gate operators. It's not optional and it's not applied selectively. Every install includes it.
- Gate weight recorded on-site before any operator is specified.
- Daily cycle rating matched to realistic expected use, not the minimum category.
- Wiring run planned and installed in weatherproof conduit, no exposed wire stapled to wood posts.
- Mounting bracket configuration engineered to the gate's swing arc or slide travel.
- Transformer and power supply installed correctly, stepping household voltage down to the DC supply the operator requires.
- Limit switch calibration completed and tested before handoff.
- Safety reversal and entrapment sensors set and verified.
Three Phases, All Completed on the Same Visit
Diagnostics, implementation, and post-service testing. One visit.
Diagnostics
We arrive and assess the gate before anything is unboxed. Weight, width, material, hinge or track condition, power availability, and access control integration needs are all documented.
This is where operator selection is confirmed or adjusted.
Implementation
The wiring run goes in first. Then the mounting bracket configuration. Then the operator. We don't rush the mounting phase, because the bracket assembly needs to be square and solid.
After mounting, the transformer is connected and tested for correct voltage output. Then programming begins: limit switch calibration, force setting, travel speed, and accessory pairing for keypads, remotes, and intercom triggers.
Post-Service Testing
We run a minimum of ten full open-and-close cycles before we call the install complete. Safety reversal is tested with a physical obstruction. Entrapment sensor alignment is verified.
You operate the gate yourself before we pack up, so you know exactly how it runs and what the controls do.
All three phases happen on the same visit. You don't get a half-finished install and a callback scheduled for next week.
