Some Los Angeles properties have gate components from three different installation decades. An opener from one era, a keypad added five years later, an IP intercom installed recently. Each device works individually. The issue is that relay mapping between them hasn't been documented or tested as a whole.
Our approach starts with the access control panel, the central processing unit that receives credentials from input devices, validates them against a stored user list, and sends the unlock signal to the gate operator. Once that panel's current programming and relay assignments are confirmed, the surrounding devices are mapped to it one at a time. Each device is identified, its wiring traced, its function verified, then integrated in sequence.
Keypads, intercoms, access panels, and loop detectors from different manufacturers can share a single gate operator when wiring protocols are matched correctly. Multi-brand, multi-era systems are the most common integration scenario we see on older properties.
